ECNG

East Coast Natural Gas exists to make Agricultural production better for the people who produce it; better for the consumers who consume it; better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future, because the damage caused by chemical fertilizers is often long term and cumulative, it may be wiser to consider alternative and sustainable methods of fertilizing the soil.

MISSION: To convert waste into Renewable Energy and Manure for an environmentally clean and green society.

Why ECNG?

USE OF FERTILISERS

At face value, one might think that chemical fertilizers give farmers more control over their crop production at the right price. One would be right, but would also be wrong. Chemical fertilizers do allow farmers to produce more and/or high quality crops in the short-term, but may lead to fewer or poor quality crops in the long term and thereby jeopardizing human health and race.

ECNG is SKPPL’s Clean energy vertical that helps farmers by providing free manure on their agricultural lands.

AFFECT ON HUMAN LIVES

Chemical fertilizers trade fast growth for health in plants, but they will be developing less essential nutrients (Ca, Zn, Fe); having small but cumulative effects on the health of people that consume them.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

  • Contamination of groundwater and other water sources.
  • Nitrogen is tricky. Encourages growth of plankton and aquatic plants to excessive amounts. Their decomposition eats up Oxygen affecting the Aquatic Lives. Hence, waters empty of fish and crustaceans; disrupting the ecosystem and the local fish industry. Nitrogen can persist for many years; so it will continue to affect the environment.
  • Nitrogen is as bad as carbon dioxide in global warming, but is not famous.

ENERGY

India’s energy demand could double by 2040, with electricity demand potentially tripling as a result of increased appliance ownership and cooling needs. 1 billion air-conditioning units the country is expecting by 2050. By raising the level of energy efficiency ambition, India could save USD 190 billion per year in energy imports by 2040
